Popular 2D sandbox game “Terraria” is coming to the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U platforms. Developer Re-Logic has officially confirmed it, after an Amazon leak showed that the game would be coming to the Nintendo platforms for $29.99 and would apparently arrive in October. Amazon has been known to make a few errors regarding game listings, but it seems that it was right about this one.

The news was confirmed in the official “Terraria” forums, where a number of fans brought up the Amazon topic and wanted official confirmation from the developers. Eventually, a Re-Logic representative replied and confirmed that the 2D sandbox game would indeed be coming to the 3DS and Wii U.

Currently, “Terraria” is available on the PC, Sony PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Microsoft Xbox One and Xbox 360. The game is also available on mobile devices, whether their operating systems are Apple iOS, Google Android, Microsoft Windows Phone or Amazon's Kindle Fire.

It’s currently unclear if the Nintendo versions will have any exclusive features for “Terraria” or how the game will be released to the platforms. The PlayStation versions of the game were given physical copies, so it will be interesting to see if the Nintendo versions get those or will simply be available through the Nintendo eShop.

“Terraria” has proven to be quite a popular game since its initial release in 2011, thanks to multiple ports of the game and the constant updates that the title had. Many called it a 2D version of “Minecaft” due to the numerous customization options that were available, but it did things differently enough that it was able to escape that game’s shadow and gain its own faithful following.

This looks to be the last port of the regular version of “Terraria,” as Re-Logic is currently working on a darker and more story-oriented spinoff game called “Terraria: Otherworld.” This game will be set in an alternate dimension to the one seen in “Terraria” and will have a bigger focus on combat and role-playing game elements.

Since Re-Logic has yet to deny any of the news regarding the Nintendo versions of “Terraria,” it seems like the game will be coming out sometime in October. Anyone curious about the title can purchase it now, through many ways, whether it be for PC or console.
