  • A podcast has claimed that the U.S. Navy has been leaving comments on Pornhub
  • The comments reportedly aimed to recruit potential sailors interested in enlisting
  • The Navy has denied the claims and asked Pornhub to remove the fake account

The U.S. Navy has reportedly requested Pornhub to take down a fake account on its site after it was found to be recruiting people via the porn platform.

On Monday (June 22), the “Zero Blog Thirty” podcast alleged that the social media team of the Navy has left comments on Pornhub informing potential sailors how they can enlist in the naval warfare service branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

However, this claim was rebuffed by Task & Purpose, a “military- and veteran-focused” media website. It obtained a screenshot of the comment made by the account user “The_Navy,” which also appeared to have used the service’s official logo.

However, journalist Jeff Schogol pointed out that the post's poor grammar and typo seem to prove that the post is a sham.

“If you are over the age of 18 you are eligible to join the United States Navy. If you want more information go to The official Navy website,” the comment reads.

After being asked for confirmation on the podcast's claims, the Navy immediately shut down speculations that it was recruiting via the adult entertainment site.

“The social media account discussed on the podcast is a fraudulent account with no official connection to the Navy,” Navy spokeswoman Lt. Cmdr. Megan Isaac said in a statement obtained by Task & Purpose. “As a matter of policy, Navy recruiters are not authorized to recruit on pornographic websites.”

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) has also asked Pornhub to remove the account, as per a Navy official’s statement.

Pornhub has yet to comment on the issue.

Meanwhile, Pornhub was previously slammed by netizens for its slew of racist videos. The adult entertainment site was also criticized for its hypocrisy after campaigning against racism and showing support for equality amid the Black Lives Matter movement.

In a series of tweets, Pornhub stated that it “stands in solidarity against racism and social injustice” and encouraged others to give back to various organizations that support the same cause.

The site received backlash, with social media users claiming that racism is still prevalent on the adult entertainment platform. A video of a woman condemning the Black Lives Matter movement while wearing a black shirt with the words “White Lives Matter” was apparently also found on the site.
