James Kennedy is one year sober.

The "Vanderpump Rules" star shared the huge milestone in a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday. Alongside a selfie of James with his brown-sugar colored pup, he announced, "Hey everyone just wanted to let you all know I’ve made it to my one year sober Today!"

"Letting go of drinking was the best decision I ever made and I’m going strong. I don’t miss the booze ...... I don’t miss the feeling," the SUR resident DJ continued. "I’m so grateful for everything now and life has become more beautiful in many ways."

James also thanked his girlfriend and fellow "Vanderpump Rules" star Raquel Leviss for her "support" as he maintained his sobriety throughout the year.

James' path to sobriety has been a huge part of his storyline on "Vanderpump Rules." Fans watched as he had the things that he worked so hard for be taken away as a result of his heavy drinking (i.e. his infamous See You Next Tuesday events at SUR ) so it's likely that his sobriety will be a focus of the upcoming season if there is one.

The 28-year-old reality star's good news comes on the heels of some drastic cast changes for "Vanderpump Rules." In early June, two of the show's original cast members -- Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute -- were given the boot, as well as, Season 8 newcomers Brett Caprioni and Max Boyens.

As fans speculate if the show will be canceled, one of the series' former cast members offered up an opinion on the potential "Vanderpump Rules" Season 9 and its cast shortly after news of the firings.

Billie Lee, who was active for Seasons 6 and 7, previously said, "To be honest, there are amazing people on that show that celebrate Black people and celebrate Black lives and LGBTQ people. Those people need to have more camera time — Tom [Sandoval], Ariana [Maddix], James & Raquel, Scheana [Shay]. They go above and beyond for me."

In addition to the five cast members' named above, Katie Maloney, Tom Schwartz, Lala Kent, and Dayna Kathan were also full-time cast members who could continue on to film Season 9, not to mention the individuals who appear as friends of the cast. Whether or not that will happen, though, remains to be seen.

Bravo has yet to announce whether "Vanderpump Rules" will film another season.
