Vanessa Hudgens Says She Isn’t Engaged After Posting Cryptic Ring Photo

Vanessa Hudgens recently clarified that she isn’t engaged to her boyfriend, Austin Butler.

The “High School Musical” actress sparked engagement rumors after she posted a photo of herself wearing what looked like an engagement ring. On her Twitter account, Hudgens told her followers that she posted the photo to show off her shorter hairstyle and not the ring on her finger.

Hudgens and Butler started dating a couple of years ago. In 2011, the two were spotted hanging out at Ashley Tisdale’s party. “They were together but in a large group. They were not doing anything to show that they were really together romantically but they were definitely hanging out and having fun,” a source told People at that time.

Earlier this year, Hudgens also shared her secret to making long distance relationships work. She and Butler have been separated while the actor was filming for MTV’s “Shannara Chronicles” in New Zealand.

“Just communication, communication is key. I think that if anything’s bothering you, don’t hold it in. Always bring it up and just talk about it. Uncensor yourself and just be open,” she said.

Hudgens previously dated her “High School Musical” co-star, Zac Efron. She was also linked to Josh Hutcherson in 2011. The “So You Think You Can Dance” judge split from Efron in 2010 after several years of dating. “They are 100 percent still good friends,” a source said at that time.

After being cast in the movie, Hudgens and Efron felt an instant connection with each other. While speaking with Glamour in 2010, the 29-year-old actress said, “Right off the bat, we had a connection, I think everybody could see it. I guess we have a mature relationship. I think that we inspire each other. I love having someone to grow with.”

Unfortunately, Efron and Hudgens eventually split. In 2015, the “Powerless” star told the New York Times, that it was a struggle dating the actor because a lot of girls had a crush on him.

“I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up. Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares,” she said.
