Playing on their home field in Santa Fe, Argentina faced Uruguay in the quarterfinals of the Copa America.

(No spoiler here)

Uruguay's Diego Perez scored in the fifth minute off a Diego Forlan freekick pass into the box. Argentina responded in the 17th minute on a Gonzalo Higuain header off a great assist from Lionel Messi.

Argentina was the aggressor throughout the match, and Uruguay used a counterattack method that served them well. Uruguay took advantage of some well-placed freekicks by Forlan, while Messi was very effective for most of the match, especially in the first half.

The second half and overtime may have proven to be Fernando Muslera's finest moments of the tournament. The goalkeeper was efficient in the 2010 World Cup, as well. He made several fine saves.

The match will also be remembered for the two red cards, one by Perez in the first half, and the other by Javier Mascherano in the second, turning the match into a 10-versus-10 match.

Here's how the game went down.
