Police in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, released a video of a man fighting off three dogs that tried attacking him that had previously bitten over 10 people.

The Little Egg Harbor Township Police Department said it had gotten a call around 2:15 p.m. on Monday that a 69-year-old woman and 40-year-old man had been attacked by three dogs. Officers found the two shortly after the call, both reportedly suffering from multiple bite wounds.

“Over the course of the next hour, officers and residents frantically attempted to contain the animals as they continued to terrorize the neighborhood,” Little Egg police said in a Facebook post.

Police released home security footage that caught the dogs trying to attack the man, who had armed himself with pole to keep them back.

It wasn’t the first reported incident involving the dogs, either.

Little Egg Harbor police said they had received seven calls over the last four months about the dogs reportedly attacking other residents. The dogs had been taken away from their owner in December and handed over to animal control but were eventually returned. Police then “issued multiple summonses in relation to these prior incidents.”

At least 12 people were reportedly attacked by the dogs, which have since been handed over to animal control.

“The Little Egg Harbor Police Department will do everything in its power to ensure these dogs are never returned and allowed to menace this neighborhood in the future,” Little Egg police said. “This is an active investigation, and we will keep the community apprised of its resolution.”
