Viewers who tuned into “The Voice” Season 13 on Tuesday know it was quite an emotional night. While it is expected for contestants to lose their place in the competition at one point or another, choosing the eight contestants to move on to the semi-final rounds was a difficult task for the judges this time around.

This week, the audience got an unexpected twist when the results show became a two contestant elimination. Unfortunately for Jennifer Hudson, two of her team members, Davon Fleming and Shi’Ann Jones, were in the bottom three.

The two aspiring artists, along with Miley Cyrus’ team member Ashland Craft, performed their hearts out ahead of the live vote, which resulted in Hudson getting emotional just before the results.

“Regardless what happens, realize the opportunity you have been given,” she told the contestants.

“You get to determine when it’s over,” she added.

In the end, Fleming was saved and Hudson expressed her surprise that he was even at risk of getting eliminated in the first place. “A vocalist like that does not deserve to be in the bottom nothing on a show called ‘The Voice,’” she said.

Along with Fleming, Hudson’s other team member, Noah Mac, will also be heading to the semi-finals.

Blake Shelton’s team members, Red Marlow, Keisha Renee and Chloe Kohanski will take up a majority of the semi-finalist spots, while Adam Levine will be represented by Addison Agen and Adam Cunningham in the competition.

Although Miley Cyrus only has one team member, Brooke Simpson, going to the semifinals, fans shouldn’t count out the “Younger Now” singer just yet.

Ahead of “The Voice” Season 13 premiere, the artist told Ellen DeGeneres that she had already mapped out a way to win the singing competition and believes that she will be able to be successful.

In September, Cyrus told the talk show host that she had a particular method that she plans on following in order to reach victory. “I have a note written down because I believe in putting things into the universe,” she explained at the time.

“And my note to myself is, ‘I’m going to win.’ And that’s my goal this time,” she added.

“The Voice” Season 13 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
