Avid fans of the zombie apocalypse drama "The Walking Dead" seems to have guessed the identity of the masked figure featured in Season 10 Episode 16 of the show.

The upcoming episode has Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Alden (Callen McAuliffe) coming across a survivor whose real identity is hidden underneath an iron mask. The character appears to be trained in the martial arts and is seen carrying Japanese kama weapons.

Derek de Castro, a "The Walking Dead" fan, believes this masked figure could be Claudia.

In "The Walking Dead" comic series, the source material for the AMC show, Claudia first makes her appearance in "The Alien". A survivor encountered by Rick’s brother Jeffrey Grimes in Spain, Claudia worked as a curator before the apocalypse.

Derek de Castro on Twitter speculated that Claudia could be on her way to find Rick.

In the comic book, Jeffrey bleeds out and dies following a walker bite and Claudia does not learn of Rick’s last name or where to find him. She does not reappear in the book post ‘The Alien.’

Other fan theories hint at the hooded figure being Duane Jones, the only son of Morgan (Lennie James), or Corey Hawkins’ Heath, who is presumed to be alive since being abducted by CRM in Season 7.

Mercer, a character from ‘The Walking Dead’ comics, is another option, according to a Screenrant report. Mercer, a member of the Commonwealth, is one of the best fighters in the comics. He is the head of their military force and carries weapons similar to what the hooded figure carries.

Not much is known about Mercer’s life before the apocalypse, other than the fact that he served in the U.S. Military as a Marine.

While it’s a long wait before fans learn the identity of the masked figure, a voice-over from Seth Gilliam’s Father Gabriel Seth Gilliam in the episode hints this person is a friend and could be linked to Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan).

"The Walking Dead" Season 10 is currently on a break due to the coronavirus pandemic. Filming of Season 10 Episode 16 is complete, but post-production work remains.
