Wall Street got off to a hot start Friday morning to cap a record-setting week.

US stocks rose in the opening minutes of trading on Wall Street on Friday, continuing a trend that has seen markets climb to record levels this week:

The Dow Jones Industrial Average strengthened 177.09 to 34,377.96 at 10 a.m. ET.

The S&P 500 increased by 7.43 to 4,273.52.

The Nasdaq Composite moved lower by 21.39 to 14,342.64.

Yesterday, the Dow rose 322.58, or 1 percent, to 34,196,82. The S&P 500 gained 24.65, or 0.6 percent, to 4,266.49. The Nasdaq increased 97.98, or 0.7 percent, to 14,369.71. The Russell 2000 strengthened 30.15, or 1.3 percent, to 2,333.62.

Through yesterday's close of trading the Dow has moved up 13.1 percent this year while the S&P 500 increased 15.3 percent. The Nasdaq rose 13.2 percent while the Russell 2000 gained 19.9 percent.
