Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is looking forward to training camp as they prepare for the 2019-20 NBA season. It will be a different kind of team this time around with the likes of Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, and Shaun Livingston no longer around.

One player who will be on the sidelines is Klay Thompson. The 29-year-old guard suffered a torn ACL in game 6 of the last NBA Finals and is expected to miss a large part of the coming season. Hence, Kerr will have to draw out the best from Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, two-thirds of the Warriors original Big Three.

"I know he had his fundraiser a couple of days ago for the Bahamas relief. Some of the guys went down and saw him. I texted him a couple of times. But for the most part, I’ve been kept up to date with his rehab by Rick (Celebrini). Sounds like it’s going well. But we’ll really reconnect on it at the start of camp,” said Kerr to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

There is no definite date on when Thompson will be back for the Warriors. Without him, Golden State will need to find a way to fill up Klay's contributions. He averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Warriors last season.

In a previous post, a doctor named Dr. Tim Hewett advised Thompson not to rush himself back into action. In fact, he suggested that the 11th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft should rest for two years. Depending on how he progresses, most feel that Thompson should be back in harness by next NBA season at most.

Either way, the Dubs have a big hole to fill. Tasked to step up is new recruit, D'Angelo Russell. The former Brooklyn Net had a breakout year last season and the Dubs are hoping he can carry that success to the Bay Area.

Despite the absence of Thompson and the loss of key players, the Warriors remain confident of their chances next season. They are in a highly competitive Western Conference and loom as the dark horse team for the 2019-20 NBA wars.
