Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers is fully aware that he has power in his hands. Following the acquisition of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the Clips are undoubtedly one of the favorites for the coming NBA season.

However, it remains that things are far different when the Clippers take the basketball court. On paper, they look formidable, but getting Leonard and George to cohesively work with other players on the team is another thing. Either way, Rivers loves the fact that his team has been installed as one of the favorites, and he is willing to do all that he can to steer the team to its first-ever NBA title.

“I’m not going to be out in the front saying we’re going to win it,” Rivers said, via USA Today. “But I’m fine if that’s what everybody thinks. Why run from expectations? I’ve never understood that.”

Normally, some would consider this added pressure to the one-time NBA champion coach. In the case of Rivers, he is unbothered by the favorite tag and simply hopes that he can live up to expectations. Backing up Leonard and George are the likes of Patrick Beverly, Maurice Harkless, Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell. On whether that cast would be enough remains to be seen.

Standing in the way are their hometown rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. The purple and gold probably snagged the biggest name last summer in Anthony Davis. Paired with LeBron James, the Lakers too are favorites in the Western Conference. Beyond that, the Clips will also have to deal with the likes of the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, and the Utah Jazz.

As mentioned in a previous post, Rivers is fine talking on behalf of everyone on the Clippers end. As far as roster spots, one position that the Clips can plug is the center position. Harrell could be called upon to fill up the slack but pundits feel he is undersized. Mfioundo Kabengele and Ivica Zubac are around but it remains that a tested veteran could further boost their bid out West.

One player who could amply fill it is Joakim Noah. In another previous post, the 34-year-old worked out with the Lakers but LA opted to go with Dwight Howard. The French player is a proven rugged defender who can provide the energy although he needs to stay healthy. If things work out, he could be another vital piece for the Clippers' NBA title drive.
