The Toronto Raptors fans failed to cover themselves in glory on Monday night as they loudly cheered Kevin Durant going down with an Achilles injury early in the second quarter. It was an unexpected reaction and took everyone by surprise including the Raptors players, who were calling for the home fans to end the cheers.

The Raptors lost 106-105 to Golden State Warriors to take the NBA Finals into Game 6 at the Oracle Arena. But the incident occurred in the second quarter when Durant, who was making his first appearance in the finals went down clutching his right leg after playing just 12 minutes. They were even images of fans waving goodbye to the Warriors forward.

Durant was the main target of the home fans even during the warm up as they booed his arrival on court and then cheered every missed shot. The small forward started the game in fine fashion scoring 11 points which included 3 three-pointers.

The 2-time NBA Finals MVP went down while attempting an offensive play in the second quarter and had to be helped off the court by his teammates. The Warriors players looked disgusted with the home fans’ reaction while Raptors player Kyle Lowry urged the fans to stop cheering and support Durant.

The fans did eventually heed the home players’ advice and the cheers for the injury turned into a “KD” chant as he left the court and headed to the locker rooms. But the Raptors fans were criticized by players from the NBA and NFL for celebrating a player’s injury, even Raptors' biggest fan, Drake, seemed upset with Durant's injury.
