  • Shakur Stevenson's recent win was marred by a skirmish allegedly involving his mother in a post-fight presser
  • Stevenson capped off his huge win over Valdez by proposing to girlfriend Young Lyric
  • He could have WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney as his next opponent

Shakur Stevenson was coming off perhaps the biggest win of his boxing career, hacking out a unanimous decision win over Oscar Valdez.

His 18th win allowed the 24-year-old pug to retain his WBO super featherweight title and cop the WBO and vacant The Ring super featherweight titles on Saturday, April 30.

However, there was a bit of drama in the post-fight press conference.

Stevenson was speaking to reporters when something captured his attention from afar. He then dropped his titles and rushed towards the fracas that broke out at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The whole sequence was captured on video by talkSPORT.com online boxing editor Michael Benson.

At some point, Stevenson could be heard asking where his mother was, Yahoo Sports reported.

It appears that his mother was not allowed into the press conference and this appeared to have resulted in a commotion.

According to ESPN boxing insider Mike Coppinger, two women were allegedly accused of attacking his mom and the boxer rushed to his mother’s aid.

Although details remained unclear, multiple reports claim that Stevenson and his family were placed in a room as security tried to calm the situation.

According to his manager James Prince, Stevenson and his mother are fine in the aftermath of the incident.

It was part of an eventful night for the American boxer who also proposed to his rapper-girlfriend, Young Lyric, in the ring following his win over Valdes.

As far as his next fight, there remains no official word on who Stevenson could fight next.

However, someone who watched at ringside could be the southpaw’s next foe–WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney.

“I'm a superstar in this sport – line them up and name them, I'm ready for whoever. I might go collect all the belts at [super featherweight] and become undisputed,” Stevenson stated. “Devin is definitely a huge fight for me, he's a hell of a fighter. I have got nothing but respect and love for Devin – but we can line it up in the future, too.”

Regardless of who he may fight next, Prince stressed that anyone who comes face to face with Stevenson will have a problem.

“The sky is the limit. Everybody who gets in front of him is going to have a problem,” Stevenson’s manager stated.
