KEY POINTS

  • Steph Curry left Wednesday's game against the Rockets with a tailbone injury
  • Curry is averaging 29.3 points per game this year
  • The Warriors are sitting at 9th in the Western Conference

The Golden State Warriors just can’t seem to catch a break this season.

With their second-leading scorer Klay Thompson already sidelined for the rest of the season while recovering from an achilles injury, the Warriors could also be looking at franchise star Stephen Curry missing a bit of time due to injury as well.

In their game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, Curry suffered what is being reported as a tailbone contusion at the end of the third quarter.

Curry attempted a fall-away three pointer at the buzzer and ended up stumbling back before falling hard on his behind. He had a hard time getting back up.

Ultimately, Curry left the game and did not return.

The Warriors held on to defeat the struggling Rockets, 108-94. Curry had 18 points, eight assists, and five rebounds before leaving the floor

If Curry does end up having to miss an extended amount of time due to injury, it would be a massive blow to the Warriors, who are in the running for a spot in the postseason play-in tournament.

The Warriors are currently sitting at ninth place in the Western Conference with a 21-20 record, just a game and a half ahead of the tenth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies.

Missing the services of Curry would mean missing his per-game averages of 29.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.

The next highest scorer on the Warriors roster this season is Andrew Wiggins, who is putting up 17.2 a game.

This year has been a great comeback season for Curry, who missed all but five games last season due to injury. The former back-to-back MVP is currently fourth in the NBA in scoring, which has helped earn him a seventh All-Star selection.

In January, Curry went off for a career-high 62 points in a 137-122 win over the Portland Trailblazers. The following month, he dropped 57 in a 134-132 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. These early performances even earned him consideration in MVP voting.
