A coroner has determined the cause of death for “My 600-Lb Life” Season 6 subject James “L.B.” Bonner. The death of the popular TLC star, who lost over 300 pounds, has been ruled a suicide.

When viewers first met L.B., he was 642 lbs and had lost his leg in a car accident. The traumatic event resulted in the subject’s abuse of food and alcohol. After meeting with Dr. Nowzaradan and following his diet plan, L.B. was finally able to stop overeating and began his journey towards sobriety.

The star documented his progress on social media, where fans and family would frequently flood his comment section with words of encouragement and praise due to his determination to continue his weight loss journey after his episode ended.

On Wednesday, the County Coroner’s Office revealed the star died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Last week, TMZreported L.B’s body was found in a park in Lexington, South Carolina by police officers who were making a welfare check. At the time, authorities revealed they were not looking for any persons of interest in the case.

After learning about the unexpected death, the television network released a statement reflecting on L.B’s weight loss journey.

“His spirit and determination as displayed through his story, quickly made LB a fan-favorite, and family & friends have taken to LB's Facebook page to commemorate his life,” the statement read.

“TLC was deeply saddened to hear of LB’s passing and is honored to have shared his honest and courageous story on ‘My 600-lb Life.’”

Prior to his death, L.B. shared a message on Facebook thanking those who stood by his side. “I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support throughout my journey...I’ve realized a few things over the last few days and its time that, I face my demons head on,” he wrote on Thursday.

“No matter what you change or the efforts you put forth in life, sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and deal with things your own way...Again, thank y’all so much... Please don’t ever let people you care about not know how you feel,” he added.

L.B. was 30 years old.
