Original Story:

Hallmark Channel renewed its magical drama, “Good Witch,” for Season 5 last July, and now its return date is finally right around the corner.

Fans of the network still don’t know when its popular period drama, “When Calls the Heart,” will come back with new Season 6 episodes after star Lori Loughlin (Abigail) was dropped, but at least the “Good Witch” Season 5 premiere date is a concrete event they can look forward to. To ensure you don’t miss out on any of the witchy fun, mark your calendars for the season’s start date and time, which is May 5 at 8 p.m. EDT.

While the Season 4 finale aired last July, the show’s most recent new episode was its annual Halloween movie, which aired this past October and was titled, “Good Witch: Tale of Two Hearts.” Cassie (Catherine Bell) and Sam (James Denton) were supposed to finally get married, but, of course, things didn’t exactly go as planned for the couple. Luckily, they’ll get another chance at it soon enough.

“Love is in the air when season five begins with Cassie and Sam’s much-anticipated wedding, bringing their two families together under one roof to face new challenges as a blended family,” the press release reveals. “Grace (Bailee Madison) and Nick (Rhys Matthew Bond) are in their senior year of high school, which isn’t without some bumps in the road as they deal with the uncertainty of life after graduation. Abigail (Sarah Power), Middleton’s new mayor, plays political hardball with her charismatic Blairsville counterpart (Mark Bendavid). Their attraction is undeniable but an ancient curse threatens their budding romance.

“Stephanie (Kylee Evans) invests in a food truck to expand her business and, in the process, finds herself in a love triangle with the charming, new hospital chaplain (Scott Cavalheiro) and Cassie’s adventurous foster brother (Gianpaolo Venuta). Meanwhile, with Martha (Catherine Disher) unseated as mayor due to a property line snafu, she’s drawn to a new career that’s right up her alley: hosting a local TV talk show. When the chance discovery of the town’s original charter reveals a centuries-old map, the hunt for a fabled, long-lost treasure ensues. If found, it could have momentous implications for the future of this not-so-quiet little town.”

Also happening next season is the arrival of actress Kathy Najimy, who played a witch in the iconic 1993 flick, “Hocus Pocus,” as she’s set to guest star on the Hallmark show as an old friend of Cassie’s, according to Entertainment Tonight.

See all of the drama unfold when “Good Witch” Season 5 premieres on Hallmark Channel on May 5 at 8 p.m. EDT.
