This “NCIS” hiatus has been particularly tough. Fans have been clamoring for more after last year’s cliffhanger reveal that Ziva has come back, and they won’t have to wait much longer for new episodes.

“NCIS” will come back to TV next week. Season 17 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.

Ziva (Cote de Pablo) has returned to warn Gibbs (Mark Harmon) about something. Ziva was revealed to be alive earlier last season, and Gibbs got his first glimpse of her in last season’s finale cliffhanger.

The season premiere will pick up with Ziva and Gibbs’ meeting, but it’s not a heartwarming reunion. Ziva wants to warn Gibbs that he is in danger. In the Season 17 trailer, she explains that someone called Sahar (Mouzam Makkar) is hunting her down, and she has no idea why. However, she does know that Sahar is after Gibbs too.

The team will quickly discover that Ziva is alive and has Gibbs, and that’ll shake some members of the team. McGee (Sean Murray) is clearly upset that this information was kept from him. Palmer (Brian Dietzen) and Ducky (David McCallum) were also part of the team during Ziva’s NCIS tenure, so they could have strong reactions as well.

The real question fans have is if Tony (Michael Weatherly) knows. He left NCIS to raise his and Ziva’s daughter after learning about Ziva’s “death.” Did she let her daughter’s father know about her survival?

Fans aren’t the only ones with questions. It sounds like Gibbs has his own queries.

“Ziva surprises Gibbs with a cryptic warning, prompting him to question why she remained underground for years while being presumed dead by family and friends, and what led to her return,” the official episode synopsis reads.

The episode is titled “Out of the Darkness” and was written by Gina Lucita Monreal while Terrence O’Hara directed.
