“Grey’s Anatomy” unexpectedly ended with a shortened season earlier this month. Season 16 was cut by four episodes once the coronavirus pandemic shut down production, but the good news is that it won’t be long until the entire season is available on Netflix. The streaming release date is just a couple weeks away.

“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 16 will release on Netflix on Saturday, May 9. The season will include all 21 episodes.

Though there were fewer episodes than usual, there was no shortage of drama this season. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) left off last season shocked that Andrew (Giacomo Gianotti) took the fall for her insurance fraud and went to jail. She starts off Season 16 by revealing the truth, but that puts her entire career in jeopardy. Richard (James Pickens Jr.) and Alex (Justin Chambers) have to adjust to life after being fired.

Meanwhile, Jo (Camilla Luddington) goes into a mental health facility for help. Unfortunately, that’s not the end of the drama for Jo. Actor Justin Chambers left the series, and that means Alex Karev had to be written out in a surprising way.

Elsewhere, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) meets a new family member, but tragedy strikes. Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) starts to fall for Link (Chris Carmack), and Schmidt (Jake Borelli) starts to realize that Nico (Alex Landi) isn’t exactly his Prince Charming.

Luckily, the shortened season won’t be the last. “Grey’s Anatomy” has already been renewed for Season 17, so fans can watch the latest episodes on Netflix knowing that this isn’t the end for Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital yet.
