The global availability of Netflix (NFLX) makes it a must-watch for all markets, but are viewers really getting the same deal across the board? The short answer is no as Netflix’s total title library greatly differs, as well as the cost for the service, depending upon where a viewer lives.

A study by Comparitech looked at the cost difference between countries for Netflix’s service, and the results may surprise you. When it comes to getting the best value for Netflix’s service, Canada comes in at the top spot. Canadians are treated to the most cost-effective streaming services from Netflix, beating the U.S. and the U.K. by 10 or 13 percent more per title, according to the study.

Canada has one of the largest title selections on Netflix at 5,500 plus titles, which Comparitech indicated was about 10 percent cheaper per title than what the U.S., the U.K., and Australia are paying. Countries with a much smaller library are paying even more, including Denmark. According to the survey, Danish customers pay as much as 100 percent more per title on Netflix than Canadian viewers. Denmark even pays more than U.S. and U.K. customers by 90 percent or more.

When the survey looked at what a title on Netflix costs the average customer worldwide, viewers can expect to pay $0.00222 each. Denmark customers pay 48 percent more for a title with the average worldwide customer paying 57 percent more.

The survey also showed that falling right behind Canada for the most cost-effective streaming from Netflix is Columbia, India, Mexico, and Brazil, respectively. At the bottom of the list is Denmark at $11.94 for a monthly membership, followed by Iran, Egypt, and Norway with the average cost of monthly service in these countries, based on title availability, at $7.99, $7.99, and $10.48, respectively. Canadians pay only $6.90 per month for over 5,500 titles, showing a true value.

While Canadian viewers have access to one of the largest selections of titles on Netflix and the most-cost effective prices for these titles, there are still countries that get the service even cheaper. Brazil is by far the cheapest place to stream Netflix at the cost of $5.24.

When the study looked at the cost to stream Netflix in the U.S. and the U.K., where a large portion of Netflix’s growth lies, the U.S. came in at 23rd cheapest, and the U.K. came in at 18th cheapest for the service. Even with these dismal rankings, the survey from Comparitech was able to find a bright spot for U.S. and U.K. viewers as Netflix’s service in these countries are 3.2 and 5.6 percent cheaper than the global average, costing $8.25 per month.

As of Monday afternoon, Netflix's stock was up over 2 percent.
