One of the richest women in the world has married ... a school teacher.

Philanthropist billionaire MacKenzie Scott, who divorced Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos in 2019 and recently gave away $4 billion of her fortune, found love again in Seattle school teacher Dan Jewett.

Jewett, a science teacher, acknowledged his marriage to Scott in a statement posted on the website Giving Pledge, a campaign that encourages extremely wealthy people to contribute a majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes.

“I have been a teacher for the majority of my life, as well as a grateful student of the generosity of those around me. This has meant doing my best to follow their example by passing on resources of all kinds—from time, to energy, to material possessions—when I have had them to give. And now, in a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know—and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others,” read the post by Jewett, dated March 6, which pledged to give away their wealth to charity.

Scott's Amazon profile also mentions that she lives in Seattle with her four children and her husband, Dan.

A report by Forbes said the couple met at the Lakeside School, a private school that Bezoz's and Scott’s children attend, and where Jewett was a chemistry teacher. However, he is no longer listed as a faculty on the school’s website. There is not much else available publicly on Jewett.

Scott, who finalized her divorce with Bezos in 2019 after 25 years together, got a 4% stake in Amazon, which amounts to around $38 billion. Bezos had also transferred 25% of his Amazon stock holdings to Scott, just after their divorce. The settlement made her one of the richest women in the world.

It was revealed last year that Scott, who has committed herself to philanthropy, donated more than $4 billion to 384 organizations in four months. Her net worth increased crossed $57 billion in 2020 as Amazon, the primary source of her fortune, witnessed strong growth during the pandemic.

Bezos responded to news of the marriage, in a statement to Wall Street Journal (paywall), which first reported on Scott and Jewett’s marriage, ""Dan is such a great guy, and I am happy and excited for the both of them.”
