For years, Whoopi Goldberg has been serving as the moderator on "The View." During that time, fans have continued to speculate about whether or not the comedian plans on staying with the ABC talk show. During a recent interview on SiriusXM’s "The Howard Stern Show," the "Sister Act" star gave her thoughts regarding her immediate future on "The View."

After asking if she can believe how long she has been with the show, Stern said that she is approaching the territory of appearing on "The View" longer than show creator Barbara Walters, which resulted in a laugh from Goldberg.

The radio host then added that he assumed Goldberg's acting ability would have inspired her at some point to ask herself if the show is really what she wants to continue doing each day. Calling her a "talented powerhouse actress," he elaborated on her roles over the years, including 1985's "The Color Purple" and 1990's "Ghost."

As a result of Stern's inquiry about why she stays, Goldberg responded that she does have other projects in the near future, including an adaptation of Stephen King's "The Stand" that is set to air on CBS All Access. She then added that while other things "do come up," her time has continued to be spread.

The actress then revealed a bit more about how she views her career at the moment.

"It's not that my time will come back, it's not gone anywhere, it's just still there, and I guess I’m supposed to be doing this right now," she said.

"I guess I’m supposed to be in this chair every day saying, 'Listen, we do not have to buy into fear or panic. We can master this if we do it together.' I feel like I am better off saying, 'Listen.' Somebody needs to stand up when the person in the White House says, hey, maybe we should inject some bleach," she said, adding, "I'm the person that has to say, 'Hey, hey you sitting there, you need to stand up and say, 'You can't do... No."

Aside from the recent conversation regarding Goldberg's potential exit from "The View," the ABC show has faced other changes regarding its co-hosts. Not only have rumors circulated about Joy Behar's future appearances, but a former co-host also recently revealed that she had been removed from her own position on the talk show after signing a new contract.

"The View" airs weekdays on ABC.
