Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton may be working on getting married, but a new report claims the “I’ll Name the Dogs” singer believes Miranda Lambert’s marriage to New York cop Brendan McLoughlin came at an interesting time.

Last weekend, Lambert announced she married McLoughlin in a private wedding by sharing photos of their big day on Instagram. However, their nuptials come amid reports that Stefani and Shelton are close to announcing their engagement.

A source told Us Weekly Shelton had reservations after learning about Lambert’s surprise wedding. “Blake commented to Gwen [that] the timing of Miranda’s announcement of the marriage was certainly curious,” the insider said.

Shelton and Stefani, who “are on the path to getting married,” are reportedly attending marriage counseling. While the couple is certain they want to be together, “there are obstacles they have to deal with” before they walk down the aisle.

Although Stefani and Shelton still need to work out some kinks in their relationship, Lambert’s wedding will not affect their plan to become a family.

“The timing of Gwen and Blake’s wedding date is a work in progress. … Just because Miranda got married in a quickie random situation doesn’t change anything for Gwen and Blake.”

Shelton and Stefani began dating in 2015, following his divorce from Lambert and the No Doubt singer’s split from Gavin Rossdale.
