Camilla Parker Bowles was supposed to be at Westminster Abbey's Field of Remembrance this week alongside Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. However, the Duchess of Cornwall was missing from the royal engagement, but she had a good reason.

Hello! Magazine reports that Prince Charles’ wife is fighting a chest infection. “The Duchess of Cornwall has been told by her doctor to cancel her engagements owing to a chest infection which has got progressively worse over the last few days. She will therefore not be at today's event with Harry and Meghan,” Clarence House said in a statement.

Royal watchers should not interpret Camilla’s absence as anything negative towards the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. In fact, she has reportedly been a rock for the couple. A source told Vanity Fair that she’s a “pillar of support” for the couple.

“I think Camilla was probably just as surprised as anyone else when the documentary came out and perhaps didn’t realize how much Harry and Meghan were suffering,” the source said. “She wants everyone to get along and be happy. Her mantra is carry on and keep smiling. She doesn’t want to see anyone struggling and she is fond of Meghan and she could be a very good ally too.”

Meghan and Harry, of course, recently revealed their inner turmoil in “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.” The discussed the wild speculation and outright lies about Meghan and how stressful the rumors have been as they tried to adjust to parenthood.

Meghan is reportedly very close to her in-laws. She and Charles are also said to have a strong bond.
