Jamie Dornan used to be active on social media, but his rapid introduction to the limelight following his casting in “Fifty Shades of Grey” changed all of that. Speaking to Marie Claire UK, Dornan revealed why he’s stopped using social media.

Dornan admitted to the magazine he’s “absolutely delighted” to be married and no longer have to face speculation over his love life. Still, he says he didn’t enjoy fans talking about his off-screen life online. “... People like to go after your family and s--- as well,” the 34-year-old Christian Grey actor said. “It’s one of the main reasons I left social media. They say horrific things about your loved ones...”

A quick look at what was once Jamie’s official Twitter page — where he once mourned actor Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death, calling it “rotten” — shows it’s no longer active. Dornan’s official Facebook page is still active, though it shows no personal updates from the actor. The last post is of the “Fifty Shades Darker” trailer released this month.

Dornan married wife Amelia Warner in 2013 and the couple share two daughters, who Dornan said make his job a little easier. After years of playing serial killer Paul Spector on BBC Two’s “The Fall,” the Irish actor said his kids help bring him back to reality after a hard day of work. “The kids are a great way of breaking you out of whatever. You have no choice but to enter their world when you get home.”

With the “Fifty Shades” franchise officially wrapped, and the publicity tour for the sequel over four months away, Dornan revealed he’s taking his time off to spend with his family.

“I want to be a very hands-on father and I have been so far with both of my children” he said. “At times, I’ve been very frustrated that I’ve had to work so soon after my wife going through that [childbirth], because you want to be there as much as you can.”
