Kate Middleton chose the Cartier Halo tiara when she wed Prince William for a reason.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning on her wedding day in her Alexander McQueen wedding dress by Sarah Burton, which she paired with the Cartier Halo tiara. One netizen took to Quora and asked why Middleton chose the headpiece.

According to Sue McCune, who observe, read and study the British royal family, Middleton used it because it was what Queen Elizabeth II offered to her. Also, there was a significant connection between Middleton and the first royal who wore it, the Duchess of York, Duke Albert’s wife.

Prince Albert was expected to marry princesses from other royal families. Their wedding was notable because Prince Albert was permitted the freedom to marry someone who was not a royalty.

Just like the Duchess of York, Middleton is not a royal and has no noble connections. Also, the tiara was relatively small and was a good choice for a bride wearing one for the first time.

Meanwhile, other netizens believed that Middleton chose the tiara herself because she liked it.

“Catherine chose the Cartier Scroll tiara for the same reason Meghan chose the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau Tiara. They liked the pieces and they looked good with each bride’s specific wedding dress,” Eileen Wood, a Republican wrote.

“I think people choose to wear something because they feel good in it and they think they look good in it and generally want to impress. Tiara or tennis shoes, the reasons are the same,” Michael Agyeman added.

In related news, a number of royal fans participated in a survey asking them whose bridal gown they prefer between Middleton’s and her sister-in-law Meghan Markle’s. The majority said that they prefer the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress.

Katy Perry also said that between the two wedding dresses, Middleton won. The “Roar” singer said that she would have done one more fitting for Markle’s Givenchy gown, suggesting that it didn’t perfectly fit the bride. Nevertheless, the “American Idol” judge said that she loves Markle and was happy for her and Prince Harry.
