  • Perry believes that the U.S. needs a man with "experience" for such an important position
  • West announced that he will run for president

Singer-songwriter Katy Perry has made it clear that she won’t be endorsing rapper Kanye West for the 2020 Presidential election even if she’s a “huge fan” of his work.

Speaking in an interview with Hits Radio, the 35-year-old musician opened up about the issue. Perry revealed that she really loves the “Otis” hitmaker as an “artist,” but she won’t be rooting for him in the upcoming election because he does not have the necessary “experience” to become the next President of the United States.

Leaving politics aside, the songstress praised West and labeled him a “conversation-maker.”

“I love Kanye, he is amazing. I just, you know, I love him as an artist. And I think he is an incredible disruptor as an artist and a conversation maker as an artist. And that’s what I love the most about him. What we’ve learned looking back is that the presidential job is best suited for someone with experience and that is a pro in their field,” Perry said during the interview.

Later in the discussion, the “Chained To The Rhythm” hitmaker shared that the U.S. does not have “pros” in various positions, and she believes that things can get a little “wild” when an inexperienced person were to claim such an important position.

“I think we have seen and learned from experience that when we don't have pros in position, that it can get a little wild,” Perry said.

Perry is not the only notable personality to criticize West’s presidential bid. NBA player Stephen Jackson and actor Jamie Foxx also think that it is high time for people to not vote for celebrities who have no experience whatsoever.

Jackson took to Instagram and slammed the rapper’s decision by sharing a snap of DJ Hed’s tweet. “No more voting for celebrities who’ve never held public office. If you wouldn’t hire a plumber to work on the electrical wiring in your house why would you vote this way? America’s obsession with fame/celebrity is the end game,” DJ Hed wrote in the shared tweet.

Jackson’s post received several reactions from other celebrities including Foxx.

“Gottdamn right!!! Ain’t got time for the bulls—-t!!!” Foxx wrote.
