Kate Middleton and Prince William reportedly made Prince Charles angry during a royal tour.

Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Pakistan. Many believed that the couple’s trip was a huge success. Katie Nicholl of Vanity Fair even believed that Prince William and Middleton might receive a congratulatory letter from Queen Elizabeth II. She also praised the couple for their special effort to communicate with the press and how they expressed their appreciation for the host country.

However, one of Prince William and Middleton’s royal tours didn’t turn out well, at least from Prince Charles’ perspective. The heir apparent was not impressed when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Canada in 2011.

The tour came in the wake of the couple’s lavish wedding. Sources claimed that Prince Charles felt that the tour was too focused on themselves instead of promoting their charities.

The royal couple’s 11-day Canada tour was dubbed as “William and Kate Show” which reportedly fueled Prince Charles’ anger even more. During their visit, the future king and queen consort met with famous celebrities including Tom Hanks, David Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Nicole Kidman. Their faces were also plastered across newspapers and television networks across Canada.

Prince Charles was reportedly happy for their marriage and the warm welcome they received but thought that they should focus more on their charity work instead of rubbing elbows with celebrities. An insider claimed that the heir felt that way because he was overshadowed by his son and daughter-in-law.

“Charles felt overshadowed by Diana and now it seems he feels overshadowed by their son,” the insider said.

Princess Diana was aware that she overshadowed Prince Charles when they visited Australia. According to her, the experience was uncomfortable because she was aware that the Prince of Wales didn’t want to share the spotlight with her.

“No, not particularly, because with the media attention came a lot of jealousy, a great deal of complicated situations arose because of that,” Princess Diana explained when asked if she was flattered with the excessive media attention she received.
