Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of undermining Prince William and Kate Middleton.

While speaking on Gayle King’s special about Meghan Markle on CBS, historian and author Dr. Anne Whitelock said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already been challenging the popularity and status of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge even before the latter couple becomes the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Earlier this year, the “Suits” alum traveled to New York for a lavish baby shower thrown by her friends in her honor. Even though Markle didn’t spend any money for the affair herself, she was accused of splurging taxpayer income by critics. A source from Kensington Palace said that the gathering was actually privately funded.

Middleton, on the other hand, who will become Queen one day, has never attended or thrown a baby shower ahead of the birth of her three kids. But it is important to note that Middleton comes from a very different background.

In the United Kingdom, baby showers are not a thing because the gathering with family and friends is typically done by Americans. Markle is an American citizen and she had lived in the United States for most of her life. Prince Harry’s wife just moved to London two years after before their engagement.

Meanwhile, Markle and Middleton have been pitted against each other for months. After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding anniversary, the two women’s alleged feud was once again reignited.

In the video uploaded on Markle and Prince Harry’s official Instagram account, Middleton is the only immediate member of the royal family that was not featured. Prince William and Prince Charles were in the clip as well as Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

However, Middleton may have been kept out of the couple’s anniversary video because she didn’t play a significant role at the wedding. Prince William was Prince Harry’s best man, Prince Charles walked Markle down the aisle, and Prince George and Princess Charlotte were one of the groomsmen and bridesmaids.
