Prince William couldn’t sleep the night before his wedding to Kate Middleton.

The Duke of Cambridge confessed that he had a hard time sleeping on his last night as a bachelor. He was excited and nervous but aside from that, there was another problem that prevented him to rest.

According to Marcia Moody in her 2013 book “ Kate: The Biography,” Prince William went out with Prince Harry on that night to see the crowds thronging around Clarence House, Green Park and Buckingham Palace. The royal biographer described Prince William’s move a “modern gesture by a member of the Royal Family” and something that is “very typical“ of Prince William. That night, the loud and excited crowds prevented the nervous groom to sleep.

“The crowds were singing and cheering all night long, so the excitement of that, the nervousness of me and everyone singing – I slept for about half an hour,” Prince William confessed.

Moody pointed out that Prince William was “a little more sensible that night” compared to his younger brother, Prince Harry. The Duke of Sussex reportedly stayed up drinking with Middleton’s sister Pippa and his then-girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

Prince Harry left the Goring Hotel around 3 a.m. and jumped off the balcony into a flowerbed before walking back to Clarence House. Nevertheless, he still performed his best man duties well.

According to Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince Harry helped entertain the kids so they would behave properly during the photo shoot. The duke brought a wiggly worm and showed it to the kids in the carriage to keep them amused.

The Duchess of Cornwall added that the worm even made it into Prince William and Middleton’s official photos. Camilla said that her granddaughter Eliza won’t let the toy go, so she kept it in her hand during the pictorial.

That’s not all, Prince Harry also prepared a surprise for the newlyweds. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were shocked when Prince Harry arranged a short drive for them back to Clarence House using their father’s beloved open-topped Aston Martin Volante. The car was decked out in balloons, red white and blue streamers, and had a “JU5T WED” number plate.
