Kate Middleton and Prince William now have more social media followers after they split their household from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

A few days back, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their official Instagram account. A number of netizens said on Twitter that they would unfollow Kensington Palace which resulted to Prince William and Middleton losing followers on the said platform.

However, according to Carly Read of Express, after the fab four’s split, Prince William and Middleton have actually increased their Instagram followers. Before Prince Harry and Markle left and announced their separate account, Kensington Palace only had 7.1 million followers. Currently, their followers are at 7.6 million -- so the future king and queen gained 500,000 new followers.

While others announced that they would no longer be following Kensington Palace because they only wanted updates about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince William and Middleton’s solid supporters expressed their delight that the account would be exclusive to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge again.

One netizen said she would be following Kensington Palace again after the split. Another user said the account will now recover its “royal prestige.”

According to Daniela Elser of News.com.au, Prince Harry and Markle’s separate social media account is causing a problem and the biggest loser is Middleton. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to welcome their baby soon and many are looking forward to seeing cute pictures on the couple’s Instagram account.

Meanwhile, Roya Nikkah said that the separate social media presence of the fab four might “cause unexpected grief back home.“ For Nikkah, the Sussexes may soon become the world’s most-liked royals based on social media likes.

She believes that the comparison between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t matter when they were still all under the umbrella of Kensington Palace. However, they are now “going head-to-head” following their split.

In related news, Prince Harry and Markle announced that they would keep their birth plans a secret until such time that they would be able to celebrate it privately. A number of netizens weren’t happy with the announcement and slammed the couple. However, the others understood and supported the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision.
