Prince William had second thoughts about marrying Kate Middleton for various reasons.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been together for almost two decades already. Their courtship spanned for almost a decade and they have been married for eight years already.

Prince William took his time before he popped the big question to Middleton. Due to the long wait, the duchess was called “Waity Katie.” However, netizens believe that there are reasons why it took that long for the future king to propose.

“He didn’t have second thoughts. He had hundreds of them,” Julie Parsons, former RGN at National Health Service, wrote on Quora.

Parsons said that Prince William has been used by other people since he was a kid. He also lost his mother when he was too young, so he is being very careful. In addition, he has a huge responsibility that awaits him.

“This guy has literally the whole world on his shoulders every day. And every way possible he’s been stripped to the bones and laughed at mocked. pumped up and let out. He doesn’t have a life he has an existence,” she added.

Parsons went on to say that Prince William had the right to stop and start his relationship with his then-girlfriend. His wife also has the whole world and his world and their children to carry which is also a huge responsibility. Thus, he is entitled to take his time in finding a partner.

Another user claimed that Prince William’s past is something that holds him back. “William is a future king, stemming from a broken family with the trauma of his mother’s public death added. He might have seemed a catch on paper, but with the amount of baggage he brought into his relationship with Catherine you could likely fill a plane’s cargo hold,” Gina Seldarius, a royal watcher, stated.

Seldarius added that at the time, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were so young and at their age, relationships often have a short life span.

Katie Nicholl said in her book “The Making of a Royal Romance” that Prince William was adamant in marrying Middleton. The autobiographer explained that the future king was reluctant because he didn’t want to experience the same pressure Prince Charles experienced and vowed not to be hurried to the altar.
