The biggest question at the start of the NFL offseason revolves around the future of Aaron Rodgers. Will he retire, play for a new team in 2022 or return to the Green Bay Packers for another year?

Rodgers’ latest Instagram post has led to speculation that he’s already made a decision. The quarterback posted a lengthy message late Monday night, thanking actress Shailene Woodley — to whom he is reportedly no longer engaged — and several of his Green Bay teammates.

The tone of Rodgers’ post has some believing that the reigning NFL MVP might be calling it a career.

“To my teammates, past and current, you are the icing on the beautiful cake we call our job; football,” Rodgers wrote. “The friendships that we have will transcend our collective time in this game and I am so thankful for the role that each of you have played in making my life that much better. I love you guys, and cherish the memories we’ve made.”

It’s possible that the post doesn’t have anything to do with Rodgers’ NFL future. Rodgers might clarify the meaning of his Instagram post during his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday.

The Packers refused to trade Rodgers last offseason when the quarterback made it clear that he wanted out of Green Bay. If Rodgers asks to be dealt this time, Green Bay is expected to grant the veteran’s request.

Whatever Rodgers chooses to do, the quarterback has said he won’t drag out his decision. The 38-year-old is expected to make an announcement regarding his plans before free agency starts in early March.

The Denver Broncos are viewed as Rodgers’ most likely destination for the 2022 season.
