‘Big Bang Theory’
Sheldon (Jim Parsons) wants to become the next Professor Proton (Bob Newhart) in “Big Bang Theory” Season 11, episode 6. CBS

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11, episode 6 won’t air on Monday night because starting this week, the hit CBS series will air on its usual Thursday night timeslot.

The Jim Parsons-starrer premiered last month and has been airing on Monday nights for the past five weeks. However, “Big Bang Theory” always airs on Thursdays. It only served as a boost for the new spinoff, “Young Sheldon,” which aired its backdoor pilot episode on Sept. 25.

On Thursday, both “Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon” will air new episodes. “The Proton Regeneration” which will see Sheldon (Parsons) reuniting with Wil Wheaton as he tries to audition to become the new Professor Proton. This means that recurring guest star Bob Newhart will also make an appearance in the upcoming episode.

According to Spoilers Guide, Cat Hammons will also play the role of a nurse. As of late, it is still unclear how the character will blend with Thursday night’s storyline. But since Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) is expecting a baby, it’s possible that she will be the one sharing a scene with the unnamed nurse.

“Young Sheldon,” on the other hand, will air its second episode, titled “Rockets, Communist, and the Dewey Decimal System.” Young Sheldon (Iain Armitage) will try to appease his concerned mom, Mary (Zoe Perry), and try to make friends. But since it’s very difficult for Sheldon to have decent conversations with people his age, he will employ some techniques from a self-help book.

In the promo released by CBS for episode 2, Sheldon will also have a hilarious exchange with her grandmother, Meemaw (Annie Potts). She will try to convince Sheldon to lie to his mother about something, but he will refuse.

Elsewhere in the episode, Sheldon’s dad, George (Lance Barber), is rushed to the emergency room so Meemaw will babysit Sheldon and his siblings. On their way to the hospital to visit George, Sheldon, Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Missy (Raegan Revord) will have an adventure of their own.

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11 and “Young Sheldon” Season 1 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
