The hit 90s teen sitcom “Saved By the Bell” is confirmed to be returning alongside its beloved cast members Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez. While it’s unclear if Tiffani Amber Thiessen will return, another main cast member Dustin Diamond made it clear he was not approached for the reprisal.

TMZ shared a video posted by Diamond, in which he talks about the Peacock reboot and how he wasn’t included in the lineup. Diamond, who played nerd character Samuel “Screech” Powers, calls his casting snub a “missed opportunity.”

“You can’t have ‘Saved By the Bell’ without Screech,” Diamond said while stating you also can’t have the show without the other cast members. “You need all the cast members, you know?”

According to Diamond, Screech had more screen time than any other cast member on the show, so it wouldn’t be fair to not bring him back. He even has an idea of how his character’s arc will play out in the new series.

“He’s dealing with parenthood,” Diamond explains. He describes how Screech wasn’t a “barrel full of roses” and soon realizes that he's parenting a Screech-like character of his own. Meanwhile, Screech is still Screech, wearing the same cartoonish expressions on his face and getting into trouble.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who played series 4th-wall-breaking lead Zack Morris, is said to return for “at least” three episodes, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. Morris is now apparently the governor of California (who begins shutting down low-income high schools) and has a highly privileged son who is also a lot like him. It’s hinted that Thiessen’s Kelly Kapowski is his wife and the mother of his children.

Meanwhile, Lopez and Berkley’s A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano, who similarly dated on and off throughout the original series, will also appear in the reboot. They are also credited as executive producers on the show, which will be released on NBC's new streaming service Peacock.

As for Screech, it is unclear if he’ll be joining the cast for the “Saved By the Bell” reboot. Since his departure, Diamond has become a somewhat controversial figure after releasing his own sex tape. He's also had some trouble with the law, getting arrested in Wisconsin for allegedly stabbing a man with a knife in an altercation in a bar.

Like Diamond, Lark Vorhees has also not been invited to participate in the “Saved By the Bell” reboot. She revealed that she was "hurt" by the exclusion.
