The San Francisco 49ers shut down their facility Wednesday when a player tested positive for the coronavirus. One day before San Francisco is set to host the Green Bay Packers, there are questions as to whether the contest will be played as scheduled.

Approximately 30 hours before kick-off, the answer is yes. For now, at least.

49ers receiver Kendrick Bourne is the player who tested positive for COVID-19, ESPN reports. If no other player tests positive before Thursday night, the game is likely to be played uninterrupted.

“The San Francisco 49ers were informed today that a player has tested positive for COVID-19 and the individual immediately went into self-quarantine,” the 49ers said in a statement. “Our organization has entered the NFL's intensive protocol and we are working with the league on contact tracing to identify high risk individuals. All team functions will be conducted virtually today.

“The health and safety of our players, staff and community are the organization's highest priority. We will continue to work closely with the NFL and medical professionals and will follow their direction.”

One Thursday night game has been rescheduled for the 2020 season. Because of a coronavirus outbreak within the Tennessee Titans’ organization, their Week 5 matchup with the Buffalo Bills was postponed two days to Tuesday, Oct. 13. As a result, the Thursday night contest between Buffalo and the Kansas Chiefs was pushed from Oct. 15 to Monday, Oct. 19.
