The 2020 WNBA season is set to get underway, and the championship is seemingly up for grabs. With all 12 teams in the league’s bubble at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, there isn’t a clear favorite to win the title.

Three teams are tied for the best WNBA Finals odds, according to betting odds at FanDuel Sportsbook. The Los Angeles Sparks, Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics sit atop the league with +450 championship odds.

The Las Vegas Aces are right behind them with +500 odds. The Connecticut Sun are considered to be legitimate contenders at +600. The same goes for the Phoenix Mercury, who have +850 odds.

The Chicago Sky and New York Liberty both have +1300 odds. The Minnesota Lynx start the season with +2700 odds.

The parity can be attributed in part to a level of unpredictability that comes with a shortened season. Each team is scheduled to play 22 regular-season games. The 2020 season was supposed to feature a 36-game schedule before the coronavirus pandemic delayed the start of the season.

Eight teams make the WNBA playoffs.

Washington defeated Connecticut in the 2019 WNBA Finals. The teams finished with the top two records in last year’s regular season.

Seattle won the 2018 championship, and they might be the best team after being ravaged by injuries last season. Storm star Breanna Stewart won the MVP two years ago before a torn Achilles cost her the entire 2019 campaign. Sue Bird, an 11-time All-Star, is back for Seattle after she didn’t play last year because of a knee injury.

The Storm were selected as the top team in the preseason Associated Press WNBA poll.

“I’m not surprised, I say that because we have a full roster,” Bird told The AP in a phone interview. “That gives us an advantage. We have a lot of people returning and a lot of players got valuable experience last year when Stewie and I were out.”

The Atlanta Dream and Dallas Wings are considered to be the biggest long shots with +7000 odds. The Indiana Fever aren’t thought to be a title contender, either, with +5500 odds.

The 2020 WNBA regular season starts Saturday.
