In a horrific incident, a woman killed her husband with the help of her lover and later buried the victim's body inside her home. The attack took place in front of the woman's minor daughter, police said Tuesday.

The 28-year-old woman, identified as Rasheeda Sheikh, slit the victim's throat using a sharp weapon at their home in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. She buried his body in her room with the help of her lover.

The matter came to light after the victim's brother visited the house. The couple's daughter broke down in front of her uncle and told him about the murder, local media outlets reported.

The victim worked as a salesman in a clothing store. On May 25, a neighbor registered a missing person complaint after not seeing him for over a week. The date when the killing took place was not revealed.

Police on Tuesday arrested the accused but her paramour, Amit Mishra, is absconding. Authorities did not reveal the charges listed against both the accused. It was not known with whom the victim's minor daughter was living after her mother's arrest.

Last month, a man fatally shot his ex-girlfriend because she got married to another man and refused to come back to him. The incident took place in Patna, a city in the northern Indian state of Bihar. The woman was identified as Shabnam Kumari, 23. Police said Kumari was in a relationship with Rajpal Paswan before she got married to Vikash Kumar.

The newly-wed couple was traveling to Kumar's house when Paswan intercepted them on a bike. After firing several rounds in the air, Paswan dragged Kumari out of the car. He asked her to come with him, but when she refused, he shot her in the head. He later killed himself. Police recovered a country-made gun and several empty cartridges from the crime scene.
