In a horrific incident, a woman trapped a dog in a washing machine and posted the video on Instagram in an apparent bid to "entertain" her Instagram followers, reports said Monday. The short video posted by Tamara Rotman shows her dog Cuco inside a washing machine with its face pushed up against the door.

The dog, a West Highland Terrier, looked traumatized as it was trapped inside and attempted to get out. His legs forced the drum to spin as he frantically tried to escape.

Rotman added a survey with the question "are you going to be really traumatized?" on the video.

Seeing the dog in a distressed state in the Instagram video, several people condemned the woman calling for her to be punished for mistreating animals. Some users criticized the woman's "stupid" act of hurting an animal to gain Instagram followers.

After receiving backlash on social media for the video, Rotman quickly deleted it. She later posted a video of a happy-looking Cuco playing on a green lawn.

Defending herself, Rotman said she treats the dog "as her own son" and stressed that at no point was the machine turned on. She said people "misinterpreted" her actions and that the animal was only in the washing machine for a few seconds.

"We live in a society where nothing is measured, not what we say, or what we do, or how we act. If we continue like this we’re going to end up destroying everything. I thought that deactivating Instagram or blocking people would help, but given that I haven’t stopped receiving aggressive threats wishing death and rape on me, the best thing to do is to talk and clarify some things.
I have a dog named Cuco, I love him with all my heart and those who know me know that well," she wrote in a message.

"I give him my entire life and more. Yesterday I uploaded a story of him inside the washing machine which MANY people misinterpreted; it’s fine, you don’t know me, it happens. I understand that maybe some of you found it shocking, but that was not my intention. Neither me nor Cuco felt the harm that everyone keeps mentioning," her lengthy post read.

"In any case, I want to apologize to everyone who thought it was too much.
The person who wanted to report this is in within their rights, I know I have everything in my favor so that this does not end up having legal consequences," she said. "My environment is testimony to the love I have for this animal, who I treat like my own son.
And for those of you who are threatening me: it says more about you than it does about me."
