Woody Harrelson got into an altercation with an overzealous photographer who allegedly wouldn’t stop taking pictures of him and his daughter at a hotel in Washington, D.C., police said.

Harrelson and one of his three daughters were on the rooftop of the Watergate Hotel Wednesday night when a man started taking photos of them. The 60-year-old actor asked the man, whose name was not released to the public, to stop, but the latter allegedly refused.

As the man allegedly continued snapping the father and daughter, Harrelson got into a physical fight with the man and punched him, the Metropolitan Police Department told NBC Washington.

Authorities were called to the scene around 11 p.m. Wednesday. Police said Harrelson hit the man in apparent self-defense, with witness accounts saying the other man, not the actor, was the aggressor. Harrelson was not charged.

Police said the man appeared intoxicated when they arrived on the roof deck of the hotel. The “Zombieland” star told authorities that the other man lunged at him and tried to grab him by the neck when he asked the man to stop taking pictures.

A person, who was not named, witnessed the incident and corroborated Harrelson’s claim, telling police that the man had lunged toward the actor.

It was not clear which of Harrelson’s daughters was with him that night as he has three daughters with wife Laura Louie — Deni, 28, Zoe, 25, and Makani, 15, according to Page Six.

Following the incident, the man was taken to his hotel room where he was questioned by police. Since charges are still pending, the man’s name has not been released. Once initial investigation is over and charges are pressed, the photographer’s name will be released.

The spokesperson for Watergate Hotel and Harrelson’s reps did not respond when asked for comment after the incident.

Harrelson is currently in Washington, D.C., for the filming of an upcoming HBO miniseries about the Watergate scandal. Production on the five-part limited series, “The White House Plumbers,” was previously put on hold due to a shouting incident involving director David Mandel and a prop department staffer.

Work on the series resumed on Aug. 12 after authorities concluded their probe on Mandel’s on-set outburst, which was captured on audio recording, according to Deadline.
