Nine months after competing at UFC 200, Brock Lesnar will likely be in the main event of WrestleMania 33. With all of the success that the former UFC heavyweight champion has attained in the world of professional wrestling, there has been speculation that another MMA star could appear on WWE’s biggest stage.

Conor McGregor hasn’t been shy in mentioning WWE in past interviews, and there have been rumors that WWE wanted him to be a part of WrestleMania 33. Ronda Rousey has already appeared at a WrestleMania, and Miesha Tate has publicly shared her interest in doing something with WWE.

Before retiring late last year, Tate was a former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and Rousey’s greatest rival. Speaking at a Q&A for UFC Fight Night London, Tate was asked about doing a potential WWE appearance.

“I would love to,” Tate said. “It would be fun. I would love to.

“I’m open to all kinds of things like that. It would be a lot of fun.”

There’s no evidence that Tate has ever had any discussions with WWE, unlike Rousey. Rousey appeared in a segment with The Rock, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 31 when she was at the height of her popularity. There were rumors that she might have a match against McMahon at WrestleMania 32, though one never materialized.

Rousey is no longer the star she once was, now that she’s been knocked out in consecutive fights. But with her career inside the octagon possibly over, there continues to be speculation about her eventually performing in WWE.

When recently asked about potentially having a match against Rousey, Charlotte Flair didn’t completely dismiss the idea.

“Right now the Women’s Championship is my focus so, women’s wrestling, Ronda you know, is, made great leaps and strides or whatever you want, I mean…basically put UFC, women’s UFC, on the map. So when I’m out of the title picture I’d say like yeah it’d be a fun, I don’t know, gimmick match, or like see, see what we can do,” Flair told SiriusXM’s Sam Roberts and Jim Norton.

If WWE had it their way, Conor McGregor would probably be involved in WrestleMania 33 in some capacity. He’s clearly the biggest star in the UFC and one of the biggest names in all of sports. A report by The Irish Sun in January stated that WWE tried to get McGregor to make an appearance at WrestleMania 33, but the UFC lightweight champion declined.

It’s unknown if WWE ever made McGregor an official offer, though it wouldn’t be surprising if one was on the table. Mike Tyson was the referee of the WrestleMania 14 main event in 1998, and Floyd Mayweather had a match with Big Show at WrestleMania 24 in 2008.
