  • Daniel Bryan’s wife Brie Bella is about to give birth to their second child
  • WWE has given him six-week paternity leave and his contract expiration comes after that time
  • He said that he still loves wrestling and competing is still possible but not regularly

He’s become a WWE Champion, Heavyweight Champion, Tag Team Champion, and more accolades as a singles competitor but Daniel Bryan, this time, wants to take a title nobody can take away from him – being a full-time dad.

Bryan shared the plan on “The Bellas Podcast”, citing the upcoming birth of his second child with Brie Bella made him change his plans and take a new path as soon as his contract expires. The 38-year old wrestler also shared that the WWE has given him time to be with his wife during her pregnancy.

"WWE has been great, they're going to give me 6 weeks of maternity leave which so few places in the United States do that," he said per interview transcript posted on Wrestling Inc. “So, I'll get to be home that first 6 weeks, but after that, it's not long until my contract is up."

Bryan doesn’t have an idea after his contract with WWE expires after the granted paternity leave was given to him, which led him to think of possibly walking away from wrestling for good. "We've been talking about what we do from there, but to me, in my mind, it's almost... I think I'm just done being a full-time wrestler. You know what I mean?"

Bryan’s first retirement from WWE was in 2016 when he was forced to quit due to concussion-related injuries. He later a non-competing role with the company as he was named as the SmackDown general manager for two years until he was medically cleared to compete in a match again two years later.

"And that's the thing - I love being a dad. I will always love wrestling. I will always love wrestling," Bryan said. " I will always want to do wrestling, but when I say 'always want to do wrestling' that means maybe once a month, or once every couple of months."

Should he chose to be a full-time dad, he will be leaving wrestling as a SmackDown Money in the Bank winner in 2011, four-time WWE Champion, a United States Champion, and multiple Slammy Award trophies.
