  • Triple H stresses that health comes first for all their talent
  • Edge denies he will return to WWE action soon
  • Edge could be a surprise entrant at the 2020 WWE Royal Rumble

The 2020 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble takes place on Jan. 27 at the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas with wrestling fans bracing for new and old faces participating in the 30-man battle royale. Past years have seen WWE legends and celebrities take part in the event. For the coming spectacle, one name has been strongly rumored as returning - Edge (Adam Copeland).

For the benefit of those who may not know him, Edge was forced to retire in 2011 after being diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis. Since then, the 45-year-old wrestler has been making appearances in the WWE sans the physical contact. Following reports that the Rated R superstar has been given medical clearance to compete again, wrestling fans would immediately speculate an Edge return happening soon.

However, the Canadian would immediately shoot down suggestions of a WWE return via his Twitter account. This is even though he once said that his body could be good for at least one more match, Pro Wrestling Sheet reported.

As far as the 2020 WWE Royal Rumble is concerned, the chances of Edge making a ring return remains up in the air. WWE executive vice president Triple H (Paul Levesque) discussed the possibility on "Inside The Ropes" and notable stressed that there are certain parameters. This was about the long-term health of Edge or any other star planning a ring return.

"If our medical experts say that they believe that this person has done whatever to rehab their situation, and it could be multiple situations in anything, but if they’ve done all of that and they’re now safe to get back in the ring we allow it," said Triple H.

A WWE star who many thought would never wrestle again is Daniel Bryan. The former WWE champion underwent a tedious process and consoled himself with a non-ring role. After initially failing to get the green light from WWE medical experts, the YES Man managed to convince the same people to clear him and make a ring return. Could Edge do the same at some point? It may not happen at the 2020 WWE Royal Rumble but the doors seem to be certainly open.
