The euphoria surrounding WrestleMania 35 is reaching a crescendo with all the focus on World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) flagship pay-per-view event. Every storyline and fight is building up towards the show of shows, with every wrestler pining for a role.

WWE has confirmed over 10 matches for the event and for the first time in WrestleMania history, it will be a women’s division match that will headline the event. The event will conclude with Ronda Rousey taking on Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair for the Raw women’s title.

Apart from the women’s triple-threat match, there is also the match between Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship, Daniel Bryan will take on crowd favorite Kofi Kingston for the WWE championship, while Sasha Banks and Bailey will defend their women’s tag team championship against Nia Jax, Tamina, Natalya, Beth Phoenix, and the IIconics.

Another match that will have plenty of focus during the night is the no-holds-barred clash between WWE legends Triple H and Batista. The once long-time friends have developed a feud in recent months and the WWE executive vice-president of talent and live events has put his career on the line to take on ‘the animal’ who has tormented him over the last few weeks.

All the focus may be on WrestleMania and the possible outcomes at the flagship PPV event, but what happens after? There are a number of question marks on the futures of a number of top stars, primarily Rousey and Lesnar, the two main event participants of WrestleMania 35.

Rousey has been bad-mouthing WWE and the WWE Universe in recent weeks and even called the promotion fake. She made it clear — likely part of the act to build up to WrestleMania — that she did not depend on WWE for her livelihood and was ready to walk away at any point.

Additionally, multiple reports have suggested she could be set for a long hiatus from WWE, with the Monday Night Raw episode the day after WrestleMania expected to be her final appearance at least for some time. It is unlikely to be a permanent exit, however, as she is contracted to WWE until 2021.

Lesnar, on the other hand, has never been a regular member of the roster despite being the Universal champion. He reclaimed the title when it was vacated by Roman Reigns in 2018 but makes appearances in very select televised and pay-per-view events. The former UFC heavyweight champion’s contract is expected to expire after WrestleMania and there is no indication of a possible extension at the moment.

However, Lesnar has been part of the WWE advertisements for later in the year and has been shown as part of the SmackDown brand. He is unlikely to be part of the events post WrestleMania and the European Tour in May. WWE’s blue brand is moving to Fox Network as part of a bumper new TV deal and that could see WWE sign up Lesnar to yet another lucrative contract.

Meanwhile, WWE is continuing to try and make additions to their roster and according to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, King Cuerno — formerly of the Lucha Underground — could be heading toward WWE. He is a free agent at the moment and could be considering multiple offers, but is expected to make a quality addition to WWE’s 205 Live roster.

“King Cuerno had WWE offers. I presume that he will still have those offers and that may be his destination,” Meltzer said, as quoted by Ringside News.
