They’ve been growing closer again following more than a few stressful events in both of their lives. Now, Jack will make a surprising move with Phyllis that could change everything on the Thursday, August 9 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

Following Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) death, Jack (Peter Bergman) has become Phyllis’ (Gina Tognoni) new closest confidant and best friend, and he has been there for her as she struggles with the problems in her relationship with Billy (Jason Thompson). Though the pair is ex-spouses, they’ve moved past that on the CBS soap, and their relationship is better than ever. They’ve been there for one another through a lot, supporting one another most recently as Phyllis has dealt with Hilary’s passing and Billy’s gambling, while Jack dealt with his crisis over his paternity and his mother’s Alzheimer’s. Their newly closer relationship, despite how badly their marriage ended, hasn’t gone unnoticed either, with Summer (Hunter King), who knows her mother slept with someone when she was briefly broken up with Billy, believing they are closer again because they have been seeing one another.

Now, while that isn’t the case and they have been just friends, the two will find themselves in a moment where Jack decides to come clean to Phyllis by admitting to her the same thing that he did admit to Summer—that he still loves her and never really stopped, and had hoped that she was giving him signals she’d be interested in a reunion before she went back to Billy. Summer had encouraged him not to give up and to go for it with her mother, and Jack will try and heed that advice.

As Jack and Phyllis meet up once again, talk will turn to business as he encourages her to leave Jabot and Fenmore’s which everyone thinks Billy is running into the ground, behind, and be with him and Nick (Joshua Morrow) at Dark Horse. Then, as he discusses moving on, he will make a move to try and kiss her, hopeful that she’ll be receptive. However, Phyllis will jump back, startled, and Jack will quickly find himself leaving.

However, knowing that the feelings are still there on his part could still have an impact on Phyllis’ future, even if she isn’t ready to accept it.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
