Phoenix radio talk show host Barbara Espinosa is in hot water after referring to President Barack Obama as a monkey, and saying she voted for the white guy in the 2008 presidential election.

A caller on Espinosa's radio show on KFNX was speaking about Obama, and referred to him as that rabbit ears guy who's sitting in the White House. That's when Espinosa used the derogatory term used to describe African Americans.

I call him a monkey, Espinosa said during the call, which you can hear below.

I don't call him 'guy with rabbit ears,' I call him a monkey and ... I don't believe in calling him the first black president ... I voted for the white guy myself.

The white guy is U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who hails from the same state as Espinosa.

A YouTube video of Espinosa calling Obama a monkey has nearly 10,000 views and only 28 likes.

This woman gives humanity a bad name, added user, Bdub1952.

As word spread of Espinosa's remarks, the controversial radio show host did not back down from her comments.

To set the record straight I did use the word monkey and Obama in the same sentence. Yes I did say I voted for the white guy, Espinosa said, in a post on her website, according to opposingviews.com.

Unless there has been a takeover of America and free speech is no longer allowed and I can be put to death for making a remark, I refuse to take the fifth.

The post has since been taken down, although there has been no word from Espinosa on whether she still stands by calling Obama a monkey.

Espinosa has defending herself, claiming her last name, which is of Hispanic origin, should remove any doubt that she is racist. She also said the monkey comment was prompted by a Google image cartoon that was sent to her.

With a last name of Espinosa I'm anything but racist, she said June 12, on sonoranalliance.com, in the comments section of an unrelated post by Arizona Republican Party spokesman, Shane Wilkfors.

Bryian Revoner, a contributor to examiner.com, urged KFNX to fire Espinosa, calling her just a wannabe, talk radio, big shot who was only able to garner her 15 minutes of fame by putting on an ideological, Klu Klux Klan hat and burning an ideological cross on the radio...
