After a stellar halftime performance at Super Bowl 2013, American viewers are suggesting that Beyoncé flashed the Illuminati symbol during her well-received mini-concert.

According to legend, the Illuminati refer to a purported conspiratorial organization which is alleged to mastermind events and control world affairs through governments and corporations to establish a New World Order.

While Beyoncé has never spoken publicly on affiliation with the group, a report surfaced days ago that said a libertarian-leaning super PAC had suggested the former Destiny’s Child singer’s performance would reflect the work of the "Illuminati."

The report indicated that "Elect a New Congress," a super PAC that claims it is devoted to "restoring liberty" in Congress, believes the Illuminati still exist, and that it was on display in Madonna's Super Bowl halftime show last year and has now resurfaced one year later.

The widespread speculation refers to one particular moment of Beyoncé’s Super Bowl 2013 halftime performance, in which she flashed a triangle-shaped symbol – made with her hands – that resembles the Illuminati icon.

Speculation aside, most viewers believe that Beyoncé was just showing support for her husband Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records, which uses the diamond as its symbol.

Despite rumors of Illuminati symbols and her performance having something to do with the Superdome lights going out early in the third quarter, Beyoncé’s performance was well-received by critics and music writers all around.

“It was the highlight of a Super Bowl broadcast that was full of bizarro musical moments,” Rolling Stone music writer, Rob Sheffield, wrote. “The actual game wasn't bad, either. Sorry, 49ers. But there's no question who the night belonged to: Beyoncé.”
