The fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor promises to be the biggest bout of 2017, though it won’t be cheap to watch. Buying the fight on pay-per-view will cost nearly $100, and no tickets can be had for fewer than $500.

The upcoming Aug. 26 bout has been compared to the fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao on May 2, 2015. It generated a record 4.6 million buys, even though it cost $99.95 in HD. Mayweather-McGregor will also cost $99.95, and many believe that it could approach five million buys.

The PPV will cost $89.95 to purchase in standard definition.

Tickets for the event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will go on sale Monday, July 24. The venue holds 18,000 fans, though a limited number of seats will be sold.

Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, announced that the cheapest seat will cost $500. Ticket prices then jump up to $1,500, $2,500 and $3,500. There will be a number of $5,000 and $7,500 tickets. The most expensive tickets will go for $10,000.

When Mayweather fought Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the cheapest tickets were sold for $1,500. Prices skyrocketed when tickets reached the secondary ticket market, and the same should happen for Mayweather-McGregor.

UFC president Dana White is among those that believe the super-fight will sell more PPV buys than the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao two years ago.

“I think globally it is a much bigger fight,” White told reporters at Staples Center in Los Angeles Tuesday. “I agree that Mayweather-Pacquiao was a very big fight. But globally, with Conor’s popularity in Europe, Australia, Brazil, Canada, I think this is a much bigger fight. I think we do really well.”

Mayweather has reportedly been guaranteed $100 million for the fight, and he could end up making more than he did for his 12-round victory over Pacquiao. Mayweather earned well more than $200 million for beating Pacquiao, giving him the biggest payday of his career.

Mayweather has a chance to join Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods as the only athletes to ever earn $1 billion.

McGregor will easily make more money than he has for any UFC fight, even if he does lose in a one-sided affair. Depending upon the PPV buys, his final payday could reach $100 million. McGregor has never been guaranteed more than $3 million for any fight in his career.

After beating Pacquiao in the most lucrative fight of all time, Mayweather fought just once more, defeating Andre Berto on Sept. 12, 2015. McGregor has fought four times since then, competing in the main event of four of the best-selling PPV’s in UFC history.
