The post-apocalyptic, sci-fi drama “The 100” returns to The CW in May for its final season, and fans are wondering which characters made the cut.

“The 100” Season 7 will premiere Wednesday, May 20 on The CW, and so far, at least two new characters are confirmed to play recurring roles this season, according to TV Guide.

Hope (Shelby Flannery)

Hope, played by Shelby Flannery, is the daughter of Diyoza and Paxton McCreary, two characters that were introduced in Season 4 and were prisoners aboard the Gregarin spaceship. Although McCreary dies in Season 5, and Diyoza disappears mysteriously into the “anomaly” in Season 6, their previously unborn daughter will play a large role in the show’s finale season.

The anomaly, or the floating green orb-like wall that exists in the new planet claimed by the show’s lead characters, was a source of constant confusion in Season 6 as Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and her friends struggled to understand its source and purpose.

Although “The 100” producer Jason Rothenberg said he cannot reveal too much, he told Entertainment Weekly in August 2019 that fans will get their answers to questions about the strange green substance.

“It’s definitely grounded in science and we will explain all or as much as possible as we go into Season 7,” he said. “We know time is behaving badly around it because Hope is now in her early 20s and was a fetus three days prior when Diyoza went into the anomaly in episode 8.”

The last interaction with Hope was when fans saw her suddenly emerge from the anomaly as an adult and whisper “he has my mother” before hugging and then stabbing Octavia.

New Convicts

Much like Diyoza and the other prisoners that were introduced in the Season 4 finale, Season 7 will introduce a new band of convicts. One confirmed recurring character is Nikki, played by Alaina Huffman, Deadline reported. She is an unpredictable bank robber and spree-killer. She has been recently awakened from her long nap in cryosleep on the Eligius IV. The Eligius IV is the same ship Diyoza was from that was used as a mining ship before the first nuclear apocalypse.

More characters could be introduced in addition to these new roles. Rothenberg teased, “There will be new characters whose stories we follow next season.”
