The production for “13 Reasons Why” Season 2 has been halted due to the recent California wildfires.

According to Entertainment Weekly, 21 people have already been killed since the wildfires erupted on Saturday. Approximately 3,500 buildings in Northern California have also been burned and around 600 people have been reported missing. The wildfires are reported to have been particularly brutal in Vallejo, where the cast and crew of “13 Reasons Why” have been filming for the upcoming episodes.

Deadline also reported that the filming for “13 Reasons Why” Season 2 will only be put on hold until Thursday, Oct. 12. But the cast and crew will only be able to return to the set on Sunday since they have Friday and Saturday off. Some of the cast members of “13 Reasons Why” have also expressed their sadness over the recent events.

Dylan Minnette, who plays the role of Clay Jensen, sent his love and thoughts to those affected by the wildfires via his Twitter account. Devin Druid, who gives life to the character of Tyler, also used the same social media platform to send his well wishes to those in need.

Meanwhile, “13 Reasons Why” Season 2 will continue to chronicle the lives of the high school students who were affected by Hannah Baker’s (Katherine Langford) suicide. In Season 1, Hannah narrated the entire show and gave details on how some of her schoolmates led her to ultimately decide to take her own life. It was revealed that she was bullied, rejected and sexually assaulted by some of her peers. It was only Clay who made Hannah’s life a bit better, but even their budding relationship did not last that long.

Now that Hannah is dead, those who were named as suspects in her suicide will be given the chance to explain their sides. As of late, it is still unclear who will be narrating “13 Reasons Why” Season 2, but the hit Netflix series is also expected to have a total of 13 reasons.

“13 Reasons Why” Season 2 will stream online starting next year.
