A 14-year-old girl in India was allegedly raped repeatedly for two months by a man from her neighborhood, the local police said Wednesday.

The incident came to light after the minor was abducted by the accused on July 8 from her home in the northern state of Haryana. According to the police, the teenager's family members found her near a highway late at night, four days after her disappearance.

The girl then told her family how she was raped multiple times by their neighbor, following which her father filed a police complaint against the accused, who has not been identified, DNA reported.

In the complaint, the family said the accused lived in the same neighborhood as the girl. He lured the girl on the pretext of marriage, and repeatedly raped her for two months.

"On July 8, the accused abducted my daughter. We found her late at night and brought her home. On Tuesday, she told us the accused had raped her and threatened to kill her family members," the girl's father said in the complaint, according to India Today reported.

The police have reportedly filed charges against the accused under sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366A (procuration of minor girl) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

"We are conducting raids to nab the accused," Inspector Ajay Kumar, the station house officer (SHO) of the Bilaspur police station, said.

Late last month, a minor girl's nose was allegedly chopped off by her attackers for resisting rape. The incident took place in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The attackers allegedly barged into her residence and tried to drag her away. They then attempted to sexually assault the girl. When the girl screamed to resist the rape attempt, the attackers struck her with a sharp weapon, media reports said at the time. The girl, who was bleeding excessively, was brought to a district hospital and later moved to a specialty facility. The doctors at the hospital said the unidentified girl was in a serious condition due to severe blood loss. It remains unclear if the accused in the case have been arrested.
